Compak Black Ltd

In 2005 we hand reared 20 heifer calves which were 50% Jersey and 50% Angus (our bull ‘Cowan’ had been put over a dairy herd and these were some of his offspring). These heifers were then bred with a Lowline bull and their calves 2 years later with another Lowline bull. The final product is an animal which looks like a Lowline but has the tenderness gene from the jersey cow with white fat and marbled meat.

Further to this, we have introduced 46 Angus pure Wangara Station in Tologa Bay. These girls have produced a line of Angus / Lowline cross and Angus' calves. Having 3 animals making the finals of the Steak of origin in 2016 and 2017 puts our Steak in the top 10% of competition steaks for tenderness, marbling and of course taste.

We have a closed herd and raise and sell our stock from birth to the table. We know their pedigree and have now 5th and 6th generation animals. This year we are raising 80 animals for beef and believe we are producing better and better quality.

We are now about to enter transition to organic Certification and hope to have this complete by November 2019.
