Tuiglen highland cattle beef

Tuiglen Highland Cattle is a family business owned by Rowan Lee & Wendy Guiness. They are passionate about growing healthy, tasty, 10% grass fed Highland beef.

Rowan was first introduced to Highland Cattle when he purchased two Highland steers in 2009 from a friend. After tasting the meat there was nothing to compare to the flavour & tenderness of each Highland cut. It was time to share the secret.

Rowan & Wendy now have a fold of breeding Highland cattle farmed at their property Tuiglen, found in the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges, where the air is clean & the winters cold. When ready the cattle are moved to another property at Hiwinui for furnishing before butchering. 

Highland cattle are an ancient hardy breed, they forage for their food & need little care, having natural immunity to parasites & disease. The decision to breed Highland cattle was influenced by studies that have found Highland beef to be healthy & nutritious with low levels of fat & cholesterol & higher levels of protein & iron content than other beef.

Tuiglen Highland cattle are handled in small folds, grown to organic principles & fed on grass only without hormones or antibiotics, giving each animal time to mature naturally resulting in full flavoured, lean, well marbled, succulent, healthy, nutritious meat.
